SAPP Sri Lanka proudly announce that signing of 4P Agreement with “Uthasahaya” Cinnamon Growers Society located in Mathara District. This partnership supports 350 small holder cinnamon growers to improve their cultivation with proper technical and financial support. Cinnamon grown and produced in Sri Lanka has acquired long standing reputation in the international market due to its unique quality, colour, flavour and aroma. But the Industry is now facing challenges to maintain its momentum due to lack of professional peelers and low productivity. The unique method of processing and curing of cinnamon entices its characteristic flavour. The preparation of cinnamon quills involves a combination of art and skill unique to Sri Lanka and has been handed down from generation to generation. This 4P aims to secure such traditional knowledge by promoting cinnamon cultivation among young farmers and females with proper technical knowledge and low cost financial support. Secretary to the president Mr.Udaya Seneviratne, Officer bearers of Cinnamon Growers Society, HNB Bank officers, SAPP Programme Director Dr (Mrs) Yasantha Mapatuna and PMU staff were participated at this occasion.
